Major General ( R ) Akbar Saeed Awan Chairman NTC has addressed Countrywide awareness meetings, during August & September 2016, held under the aegis of all provincial headquarters of HEC. These meetings were attended by the Vice Chancellors, Deans and Head of departments of various Universities / HEI’s running various Technology Programs. While addressing these meetings, the Chairman apprised the participants that National Technology Council (NTC) is body delegated by HEC and notified in Gazette of Pakistan October 2, 2015 .It is an Accreditation Council to accredit and monitor all four years Technology Programs stretched over a span of sixteen years of learning. NTC shall take into consideration different aspects for accreditation of degree programs in technology related subjects, including overall structure and scope of the program, curricula, requisite infrastructure, faculty, level of compatibility with international standards and trends, level of skill development by the program, level of integration of science and technology, student support, laboratory facilities, facilities for student activities and other amenities, financial assistance, level of job placement of graduates, etc. The Chairman said that Different programs whose accreditation will come under NTC’s purview include, though not limited to, B-Tech Honors, BSc/BS Technology, Animal Production and Technology, Biotechnology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Emergency and Intensive Care Technology, Medical Imaging Technology, Dental Technology, Operation Theatre Technology, Mortuary Technology, Food Sciences and Technology, Nanotechnology and Information Technology. Besides, emerging technologies will be included in due course.
Maj Gen ® Akbar Saeed Awan emphatically stated that National Technology Council (NTC) as a matter of it’s policy, is committed to make Accreditation processes and procedures, as transparent and convenient to follow and implementing quality assurance criteria in all the respective disciplines. Moreover, to ameliorate the lot of technologists, NTC shall seek government approval and have necessary statutes in place to develop a separate service cadre for the welfare of the Technologists, better business and to let them play more effective role in the development of the country.
Chairman thanked all the participants for attending the awareness session, giving their professional guidance, cooperation, criticism and encouragement as NTC continue to discharge it’s statutory mandate to Accredit Technology Programs throughout the country.
