DECISIONS OF 11TH BOG MEETING OF NTC

11th BOG Meeting of National Technology Council (NTC) was held on 28th March 2024 at 10:30 AM in Mural Hall of HEC HQ H9 Islamabad. The Meeting was presided by Mr. Imtiaz H. Gilani, Chairman NTC. The Meeting started with the recitation from the Holy Quran. After a round of introductions, Mr. Imtiaz H. Gilani, Chairman NTC, welcomed the Council Members and thanked them for attending the meeting especially in the Holy month of Ramazan. He highlighted that NTC has achieved much in a short time, but still much more is needed. He appreciated the advice and guidance of the very eminent Members. Chairman HEC, Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed appreciated NTC efforts and highlighted that Councils should focus sharply on quality assurance issues. He said there were some hiccups in the process of applying for provisional membership to the Sydney Accord, but we are on track now. He emphasized that UETs should offer engineering technology programs as they have the resources, and infrastructure, and skilled workforce is in high demand, locally and internationally. Countries like Japan, Germany, and Saudi Arabia are looking for large numbers of technically skilled workers. He suggested that NTC should write to UETs to start technology programs and was thinking of convening a conference of vice chancellors of UET's to chart away forward.

After that the Chairman NTC requested acting Secretary to start the proceedings and Agenda of the Meeting. Mr. Muhammad Fahd Amin, Acting Secretary, presented each agenda Item and necessary approvals were taken as follows:-

  • Programs of 2018 and 2019 intake batches.
  • Eligibility of F.Sc Pre-medical students admission in all Engineering Technology programs with additional Math course at undergraduate level.
  • Time frame for visit validation.
  • Information Engineering Technology as seperate program.
  • NCRCs for Engineering Technology programs.
  • Reserved seats for International Students.
  • Fine for additional students admitted over the allowed strength.
